The Department of Basic Nursing has been established in line with the vision and mission of the Faculty of Nursing at Yarmouk University to graduate distinguished nurses with high and distinctive competencies to support the local and global labor markets.

The Department of Basic Nursing seeks to establish the students at the Faculty of Nursing and provide them with solid scientific knowledge and basic clinical skills in preparation for their transition to the stage of nursing practice in specialized fields in nursing.

The department includes an elite group of faculty members who hold scientific degrees from the most prestigious international institutes and universities and are distinguished in nursing education, scientific research and community service.

The department includes many theoretical and practical courses that aim to refine knowledge and develop nursing skills in the foundation stage in the first and second academic years, including:

The department adopts nursing students in the first and second academic years by teaching them the basic courses in the specialty, including theoretical lectures that focus on increasing knowledge in addition to practical training in laboratories and hospitals. The department has been equipped with classrooms and the latest audio and visual equipment to achieve high-quality nursing education. The role of the department is mainly to prepare students for the third and fourth years to deepen their knowledge of specialized nursing such as maternal and child health nursing, community health and mental health, which are part of the Clinical Nursing Department.
